Using OpenIntern

PowerPoint

In PowerPoint, OpenIntern builds decks from your numbers and your notes, in your template, and edits existing decks without losing their content. It renders each slide and looks at it before it finishes.

What you can ask for

New decks

Decks are composed from designed slide types: title, agenda, executive summary, KPI tiles, a chart with its takeaway, tables, two-column comparisons, section dividers, risks and next steps. Charts are native PowerPoint charts you can edit.

  • "Turn the Summary tab into a six-slide board update."
  • "Build a 5-slide board update: title, headline KPIs with the change vs last year, revenue by store chart, a store comparison table and next steps."
  • "Build a 4-slide plan: an agenda, a two-column slide comparing our two regions, a risks slide with mitigations, and next steps with owners."

Existing decks

It fixes inconsistent titles, restates figures, splits overcrowded slides, adds slides in the right place and restyles a deck, while keeping your existing wording.

  • "Tidy this deck."
  • "Add a slide after the chart showing operating profit by store as a bar chart, with a takeaway title."
  • "Q3 changed. Update the deck."

Your template and style

OpenIntern follows the deck's own template and theme. For a blank deck it can apply one of four built-in looks. You can set a house deck style under More (⋯) > Instructions > Conventions: title font and size, body font and size, title colour, accent colour, footer text and slide numbers. New slides and tables pick it up as they are added.

How it checks its work

A task that changed a deck cannot finish until OpenIntern has rendered its slides and looked at them. It also checks the deck for text outside the margins, overlapping shapes, text set too small, slides left mostly empty, and figures without a source line.

Numbers linked to a workbook

In the local software, figures, charts and tables taken from a workbook stay linked to their cells. When the workbook changes, ask OpenIntern to refresh the deck and it updates every linked number and tells you what moved. The store add-in works one document at a time, so there you paste or describe the figures, or attach a copy of the workbook.

Limits

  • Speaker notes are not supported. PowerPoint's add-in interface has no access to them.
  • Some changes cannot be undone: deleted slides and shapes, and inserted pictures, are recorded but cannot be put back by OpenIntern. Added slides, shapes and tables, and changes to text and formatting, can. See Undo.
  • PowerPoint on the web refuses some edits that the desktop app accepts, such as adding a row or column to an existing table. OpenIntern then rebuilds the slide instead, or reports the change as skipped. See Office on the web.
  • Judgement still matters. Read the deck before you present it. AI output can be wrong.
